Jobs in this family plan, organize, oversee, and participate in rehabilitative programs that facilitate rehabilitation or restore functional capabilities and skills of patients/residents with physical, developmental, and/or mental disabilities.

The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:

  • Assist patients in performing therapeutic activities.
  • Observe, document, and report patient behavior and responses to treatment plan. 
  • Select adaptive equipment to be used in the treatment process.

The work assigned to positions in this series ranges from implementing therapy plans to developing occupational therapy plans and programs.

Jobs and Descriptions

Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapy Assistant accountable for implementing therapy plans though hands-on use of adaptive devices and contributing to therapy plans through recommendation and documentation. Performs billing, ordering and stocking supplies, and other clerical duties. Maintains adaptive equipment and patient documentation.

Typically requires state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
