Pilot/Captain

Professional position accountable for piloting aircraft used for state business. Jobs at this level perform standardized pre-flight and post-flight inspections of aircraft, engines, and any other equipment installed on the aircraft and pilot-in-command duties. Employees are responsible for ensuring airworthiness of aircraft prior to each flight through performance of pre-flight inspection and research of flight history.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and the incumbent must hold a First Class Medical initially and a Second Class Medical thereafter; 2,500 total fixed wing flight hours, 1,000 hours pilot-in-command multi-engine turbine time, 300 hours instrument time.

Applicant must attach a copy of his/her valid Federal Aviation Administration Air Transport Pilot License, and a valid First Class Medical Certificate. Pilot’s flight log book must be available and subject to verification.

Pilot/Captain Team Lead

First-level supervisory position accountable for overseeing the pilots. Jobs at this level formulate policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations as necessary for the safe operation of state aircraft and establish and enforce safety standards for aircraft and crews. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and the incumbent must hold a First Class Medical initially and a Second Class Medical thereafter; 2,500 total fixed wing flight hours, 1,000 hours pilot-in-command multi-engine turbine time, 300 hours instrument time, 250 hours jet time, 250 hours turbo prop time, 100 hours of flight instruction towards a rating.

Applicant must attach a copy of his/her valid Federal Aviation Administration Air Transport Pilot License, Flight Instructor License, and a valid First Class Medical Certificate. Pilot’s flight log book must be available and subject to verification.

Pilot/Captain Supervisor

Second-level supervisory position accountable for managing and coordinating a diversified aviation operation. Jobs at this level plan, administer, and direct aviation activities. Employees formulate policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations as necessary for the safe operation of state aircraft and establish and enforce safety standards and minimum airworthiness standards for aircraft and crews. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and the incumbent must hold a First Class Medical initially and a Second Class Medical thereafter; 2,500 total fixed wing flight hours, 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command multi-engine turbine time, 300 hours instrument time, 500 hours jet time, 500 hours turbo prop time, 200 hours of flight instruction given towards a rating.

Applicant must attach a copy of his/her valid Federal Aviation Administration Air Transport Pilot License, Flight Instructor License, and a valid First Class Medical Certificate. Pilot’s flight log book must be available and subject to verification.
