I started my career with the Department of Revenue (State Tax Commission), working on the help desk for Title registration. My opportunity in Human Resources began in 2002 with Mississippi Veterans Affairs Board (Mississippi Veterans Affairs). I worked for various State Agencies in the Department of Human Resources until I returned to Mississippi Veterans Affairs as the Human Resources/Payroll Manager. Favorite aspect of your job: My favorite aspect of my job is living out my passion and purpose in life as helping people. It is a beautiful joy when your passion and purpose align. Advice to someone starting their career in state government HR: I advise future state government HR professionals to network with other HR professionals at other agencies. These professionals will support and help you with those challenging issues, but most of all, learn all you can about State Government and have FUN learning and teaching.
