First Responder Training Officer II

The First Responder Training Officer II serves as a senior instructional leader responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing advanced fire service training courses. Specialized instruction may include advanced rope rescue, confined space rescue, hazardous materials operations, incident command systems, and live-fire command training. Administrative duties include managing digital learning systems, validating examinations, evaluating instructional effectiveness, and assisting with resource planning and operational efficiency reviews. Mentorship is a core responsibility, as this individual coaches and develops Officer I personnel to maintain professional excellence. The First Responder Training Team Lead provides senior-level leadership and operational oversight for an assigned fire service training group and instructional personnel. This position ensures training delivery remains modern, safe, effective, and aligned with national standards and state requirements. Primary responsibilities include directing instructional delivery strategies, supervising instructional personnel, supporting hiring and performance evaluations, and providing career mentoring and professional development guidance. Technical expertise is required to validate complex field exercises and maintain safety oversight during high-risk live-fire and technical rescue training operations. This position manages day-to-day operational budgeting, equipment procurement, scheduling coordination, and resource allocation activities within the assigned group. Proficiency in digital learning systems is necessary to analyze performance data and optimize instructional delivery across the academy. This position maintains operational familiarity with high-risk training environments and evolving fire service standards. This position typically requires a combination of advanced certifications, supervisory experience, and higher education relevant to fire service instruction, emergency services training, or organizational leadership.

First Responder Training Supervisor

The First Responder Training Supervisor serves as a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic oversight of an assigned training group, personnel, and operational resources within the academy. This position provides high-level direction for instructional operations, long-term planning, policy implementation, and statewide training coordination to ensure programs remain aligned with modern fire service needs, safety standards, and industry best practices. Primary duties include supervising subordinate supervisors, mentoring technical experts, evaluating organizational performance, and supporting the continued development of instructional excellence across the assigned group. This position provides senior-level oversight and recommendations regarding policy development, curriculum design, and the implementation of new training technologies. Financial responsibilities include long-term fiscal planning, operational budget oversight, grant coordination, and support of regional and industry partnerships. As a key liaison, the Supervisor works with fire chiefs, emergency service leaders, regulatory agencies, and partner organizations to support statewide emergency response readiness and professional development initiatives.
