News MSPB Approves Request for Reduction-in-Force from Department of Mental Health

Created On: 11/16/2017 11:20:21 AM

Jackson, Miss. (November 16, 2017) – The Mississippi State Personnel Board today approved a request from the Mississippi Department of Mental Health for a reduction-in-force affecting a total of 13 filled positions and 8 vacant positions at Ellisville State School. According to the Department of Mental Health, this action is necessary due to a shortage of funds as well as mandated changes in support coordination services from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  CMS guidelines govern the operations of the impacted programs, and recent updates to these guidelines now require a separation of support coordination services from the provider offering those services by December 2018.

“The Mississippi State Personnel Board evaluated the request from the Mississippi Department of Mental Health and determined that the agency followed the proper policies and procedures for implementing their action plan predicated by a shortage of funds,” said Kelly Hardwick, Executive Director of the Mississippi State Personnel Board.
